The 2010-2011 Season begins in January of 2011
more information to come.

You must be 8 years old and older &
Have a bicycle and helmet.
If your athlete cannot ride a bicycle no worries, please contact Coach Karen

We are looking forward to working with your athlete. This should be a very exciting year as our team continues to grow, and we move forward to anticipate that growth. The information given below will allow you to plan for the upcoming season and help you make a clear decision as to what kind of commitment you and your athlete would like to make to our program. Please remember that all athletes are required to attend a minimum of eight (8) practices before attending the Area 11 Cycling Competition to be help in April. Practices are going to be held ever Sunday afternoon at Donna Sheppard from 2:00 to 3:15. You MUST bring a HELMET.

We are required by Special Olympics Texas to attend at least one local meet or two scrimmages before competing at Area Competition. This hasn’t been a stringent requirement in the past, but we will try to have two scrimmages with the Mansfield Alumni team, but those dates and locations have not been determined yet. We will let you know when those have been determined. We will post that information on the website www.misdso.com as soon as it becomes available. The area 11 Cycling completion will be held on Saturday, April 18th at Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporate Headquarters. If an athlete wants to attend Special Olympics State Games they must compete at the Area Competition.  The final competition for 2008-2009 season will be at Summer Games to be held in Arlington May 21– May 24.  since this will be a local competition there will not be any hotel costs. This is a chance for everyone to have a lot of fun together. More information will be available as it gets closer.  We ask that all athletes make a commitment at the beginning of the season as to what they would like to do during this season. It is important that the parents and the athletes both understand what is involved in this commitment.  All athletes must be willing to commit to coming to as many practices as possible (a minimum of eight). They must be willing to work with the coaches and cooperate with all of those involved in the program. A current medical form must be on file with the Head of Delegation and Head Coach (Karen Johnson). All parents are also asked to make a commitment to the program as well. Each parent is required to go thru General Orientation and take a protective Behaviors class and fill out a Class A volunteer Application. There is a link on our website.
